A Day of Fun!!

I got to spend the day with some friends - celebrate Mary's birthday and RIDE!!!

You would never guess Oliver was the old man of the group by the way he showed off!

Simple plates on the front and nothing on back.  Riding in simple unweighted bell boots.

Oliver is 18 years young.  This is the same horse I am riding on the blog header, only that was at least 5 years ago.

Look Alike!

A few ladies have sent me this picure thinking it was me..

..and each time I get it , I count it as a big compliment!!  After all, she is beautiful, her horse is beautiful with the same high head carriage I love and some motion in the legs, a roached mane with little adorable ears!!.. but sadly No - this is not me.  I do not know who it is either, but Wow - what a beautiful sidesaddle rep she is for us all!

Decor on the Brain..

So you know we are trying to build a house on our farm... and these first steps of getting all the final revisions of the blue prints and getting the blue prints out for bids is taking FOREVER.. or so it seems!  Last month they told us we should be breaking ground by the end of this month.  I am not sure if we are still on schedule for that or not.... but I will say this.  Every single day, I have building decisions on my mind - everything from the big ~ like making sure I like the electric placement of lights and switches and such.... to the small ~ like what kind of sconce light I want to go up the stair case!

With that in mind, I have come across many many equestrian decor pictures.... from the cheap ... to what I consider (for me anyway) to be way over the top!

Lets start with the laugh out loud cheap:  This would be so funny at a barn though!!

...but here are a few things I just LOVE!!  If I could find this - I would buy it for our home.

An elegant forged iron door knocker

..and who wants a boring door stop in your house when you could have this?

..and don't we all need a trophy room?

..and we actually did incorporate a curved stair landing railing like this one

Now - I want to show you a few pictures of what I consider to be over the top.  Before though - I want to make sure you understand that I am not saying that these next things are not beautiful - just too extreme for my taste!

..Okay - so I really do think I could include this table in our library.  Can you imagine the laughs and comments from your friends?

I am going to guess that maybe the same artist that made the banister - also may have created this.
...and okay - I love the horse head andirons... but there is something creepy (to me) about the hooves!

These Will Put a Grin On Your Face!!!

Are the holidays stressing you out?  ... Well for a few seconds just sit back and get ready to grin!!

Find the rider...

..find the horse!

Find the unicorn!

Horses can find a way...

.. which is sometimes how they get their names!

Most are gentle giants with a heart to serve others..

..even when "others" have a lot to learn!!

Is it any wonder why we love them so very very much!!!

Hinting Around For Christmas Gifts??

Do you do it?  I used to, but it was a hit and miss kind of system... Here are some examples:

What I asked for:  A plush long warm robe.
What I received:  A robe from the womans department that was so huge - it could easily have doubled as a tent!

What I asked for: Casual riding clothes (not for showing) to use around the farm.
What I received:  A bibbed ski suit.... he thought they were warm overalls..

What I asked for:  A casual watch.
What I received:  A plastic Timex.

Okay - clearly this was not working...ha ha.  I'll give him this - he tried!
From then on, I just wrote him out a long list that he could choose from.  I not only gave a detailed desctiption - but the store, store address or web site, the item number and full sizing information and sometimes I printed off a picture!  Then he could go through it and pick out what he wanted to get.  My Christmas gifts have been perfect from then on!

Anyway - I found a few really cute things on the internet that I wanted to show you:
Now this is a new twist on rubber boots!!

Just For Fun Friday...

...Reaching for your Inner Child!

This would be my fantasy doll house (but a little renovation is in order!)

..and (ahem) this really is my doll house barn!
.. and this is what I would love to have for my doll house barn!..

..and this....

..and this too....
Now admit it... if you were at  home and these toys were lying around , you know you would play with them, just like you would if you were 7!!
