When I Was A Child...

..my Mother and Grand Mother taught me how to sew, both sewing garments and creative stitchery.  I never did reach the level of coutour sewing that they did..but have a deep appreciation for it.  That is why when I see hand made items for sale, I have to stop and look....

Here is a beautiful cross stitch...

..and look at this needle point pillow!

I would not be unhappy if either of these things was under my Christmas tree!

I have a needlepoint fox hunting scene I did forever ago that I love... I just need to get it made into something. Not sure what!

How funny that you posted these, because I spent a couple hours the other day looking at cross-stitch kits and patterns with equine themes. I love to cross-stitch and haven't done it in a long time! (Blasted iPad/modern technology)

I was taught how to sew by my very accomplished mother and have no excuse why I don't do more of it. I love crafts and find them so soothing to the soul... it's funny, I was stuck in a funk for several days last month. I went to a little jewelry-making class and VOILA - I was absolutely amazed at how much better I felt afterwards!
