Gathering Equipment for Show Season!

I bought this stool for many reasons. A normal mounting block with 2 steps is too short to easily mount my horse when I am riding aside. The 3 step mounting blocks are very cumbersome and heavy. This one is not only light weight and tall enough..

...but it also converts from a step stool to a chair!

My mother has that chair so she can reach stuff int he cupboards. Very handy but very heavy.

That is the coolest thing. Ever. That's so perfect for taking to shows! If I were you, I would keep an eye on it; other riders may try to nick it!

My mothers chair is not old but my fathers friend made it for her upon special request. I don't think it's heavy so much as awkward to carry but very heavy duty.

What a clever stool! I've never seen one like this. That will be really useful for shows!

After reading this blog since it's inception, I have decided my life just won't be complete if I don't learn to ride aside.
I tried riding aside a little back in the 1970's. Every large show barn back then (seemed to me at least) had one or two sidesaddles left over from the 1930's hanging around. My friends and I would ask and be given permission to play around on the sidesaddles a few times of the year, if we promised not to jump. This was Northern Virginia after all.
I didn't very much fun, but then again we weren't trying to learn anything either, just 'horsing' around, so to speak.
Any how, I decided when I take up riding aside, I want to ride western. I guess for me this going to be about part costume part skill.
Anyhow, does anyone know of a forum devoted to riding aside in the USA? I've seen one form in England, but I want to talk to other folks about riding western. Do I need to start a forum about riding aside for North American riders regardless if they ride hunt, saddleseat or western?

Here it is called a Library Chair & I got one so, when my house has been fully renovated & I have stairs to my bedroom I can use it to reach books on a shelf above the half-landing. I like your idea of using it as a mounting block & will have to suggest it to a friend who needs a mounting block for her horses. Thank you for sharing this idea
