According to my UK Side Saddle Association newsletter, five SSA riders and their horses joined ten male followers of the Vine and Craven hunt for filming hunting scenes at Highclere castle. There was apparently a lot of galloping!

I just saw a trailer for Downton Abbey on MT with a brief shot of a sidesaddle rider and thought of you.

I watched it and set my recorder to catch the rest of the series. Can't wait to see more. The culture and scenery is just fantastic!

Pretty, but not period correct. The show is set in 1913, and our heroine is turned out in a habit from 30 years earlier. Plus, that habit skirt looks like a nightmare for hunting.
Great show, though. I can't wait for the next episode.

Robin - you are so right!! That habit is way too long for something that was current for that time. By 1913, ladies were using aprons and a few (to their Fathers horror) were even starting to ride astride!
