Who Can Tell Me What This Is?...

Here is a tiny hint.. It was used by women in the Victorian times.

I will post the answer tomorrow!

I hesitate to venture a guess!

This is tough. I am going to guess just for the sake of being a sport. Hmmmm...it seems like this thing attaches to the woman in some way. Those pincsher ends are for something...they look like they open and close by pressing on the top part. Hmmm...is it for picking up undesirable objects? Maybe a glove holder? ha ha, this is hard!

Another guess :) is it a clapper or an attention getter? Like if you bang the ends together, it makes a dinging noise? That's my final guess!

Is it for tightening a corset? Chastity belt? *blush*

Looks like a "third hand" tool, like a person would use with sewing and making braid. Like a Sewing bird, which is a table clamp in the shape of a bird, where the clamp is the beak. A very handy tool BTW!
Or else, I am way off. :-)

They attach to your hat to your coat so you don't lose it while hunting.

I would call it what "panavia999" said, a third hand used in sewing. Because I have one, not a beautiful old on like these but a newer not so pretty one! But I can tell you it is a life saver at times when one needs another hand. I have used it many, many times, a great tool!!!

No clue but I can't wait to find out.

I KNOW!!! They are lovely little nose pincers, so that the lady can avoid being forced to suffer through offensive odors which might "give her the vapors" but still have her hands free.

*chuckle*

They keep your skirt from flying up on those wild rides?

Clueless in Colorado!

I vote for nose pinchers too! It must have been awful before the advent of indoor plumbing.

I vote for what non-breeder said! Had no idea til reading that and it totally makes sense! No more hat headache by wearing your hat a size too small to keep it on your head :)

Attaches your hat to your coat so that your hat doesn't fly off and get lost.

Ok, I'll try again. It must be used to connect something movable to something stationary, or something like that. Could those clips be used to hold gloves while the loop is attached to a button on a dress? Or after some google searching for "victorian era clip women" I found a skirt lifter?
