To Die For...

That is the topic for this week! I have a collection of pictures and items found that I could only categorize with those words!

You already know what a NUT I am for details.... well, today's picture is an example of the epitome of a well turned out horse, costume and tack! Just look at the saddle pad!!!

Oh, very fashionable indeed!!! Do you sew? If you did you could make pads to match all your outfits. I made a dressage pad for Gilly's saddle once. It took quite some time to make because I quilted the whole thing. It did turn out nice though.

For those who cannot, do not or will not sew, here is a lady who makes lovely custom blankets and pads.

Is that lace? I love it!

Suitability has patterns for English saddle pads (H/J & dressage).

To get around the quilting issues, I've been buying Dover's light dressage pads on sale ($10) and embellishing them with embroidered tape and fringe. I have two nearly done. A third to enhance, and three more coming in the mail.

I've prowled the local fabric stores for equestrian-themed fabrics. Western images are easier to locate than English -- but we have managed to do well.

I'll definitely try lace on one of my future embellishments.

Sigh. (muttering to myself "I do NOT have time to embellish. I do NOT have time to embellish..I do Nooo...where did I pack my sewing machine?")

I get the most wonderful ideas from other horsewomen; thank you!!! :)
