The January Give Away!

Okay - here it is and I HOPE you guys like it! I wanted to wait until closer to the end of the month...but I just couldn't! It is a STERLING SILVER set of cream and sugar bowls.

I found them at a local auction house I enjoy going to and could not believe that I got them for my 'budget price'...but there were not too many people there that night.

The auctioneers were selling an entire estate - which included lots of victorian furniture and some lovely feminine decorative things.

I see these a lot...just not in sterling...so when I won them, I knew that I wanted to use it in the January give away!Same rules as before. Leave a comment on this post - only once and you will be entered in to win. Deadline is the 24th of January at midnight! Good Luck!!

That is absolutely awesome! Beautiful set.

Kaede said...

The set looks like the kind of silver I used to win at shows. I over heard one show organizer say that the girls (we teen aged riders) could use the silver for our hope chest. She was hoping one of use would win an entire set.

Ohh so pretty! I love shiny things, especially silver.

wow! wish we had neat stuff like this at auctions here...usually it is just a bunch of junk....considering all the vintage victorian homes here, you'd think better stuff would come up, but I guess most things get sold privately here...
I am a relatively new reader here, and I love your blog...I have dreams of riding my KMSH stud sidesaddle...need to save money for one though :( I ride endurance mostly and would think it would be a hoot eventually to ride an entire e-ride sidesaddle (in breeches though, LOL..could not stand it in a dress)...I don't think anyone has done that yet!

ooooh, That would go so nicely with the rest of my tea set from my grandmother. Thanks for the fabulous opportunity.

I have found so many "treasures" at auctions. Sometimes I buy a box for one item that I see, and there are more buried in the junk that I did not see. Would love to put them with the silver my grandmother gave me....

I love following the blog... been lurking for about three months now. Thanks for the chance :)

Oh shiny! Reminds me of what my mother kept hidden away from us kids and our grubby hands hehe.

Good deal, that! Can't auctions be fun? If you're after Victorian items, look for things like a box with a slightly funnel-shaped hole in the top (hair receiver--you'd stick your hair combings in to make into a "rat" later, so you could truthfully say it was all your own hair...) Or what looks like a bud vase, but with a solid "lid" with lots of holes (holder for hat-pins)!
I have to get some stuff from the house off to auction once spring comes...Sadly, nothing horsey, although I *did* find a pair of saddle holsters in the attic, probably Revolutionary, I'm told!

I'm enjoying reading your blog- saw your link on COTH. I'm going to add it to my blogroll, so I can follow it more often! My trainer rides sidesaddle- primarily western sidesaddle. I love watching her ride, but I haven't had a chance to try riding aside yet. Maybe someday ;-)

Beautiful! I never find stuff that cool when I go hunting for equine antiques...

Ooooh, how classy!

Fun to see a sidesaddle blog. I think you're my first! You have WAY too much fun eBay shopping, by the way! ;-)

I have a Mayhew & an Owen, and having participated in a clinic last fall at least ONE of my "old ladies" (the Mayhew, go figure) seems to be mostly fitting my Andalusian-ASB mare (yes, I thought her dam's breed would prick up your ears!). Still not perfect, though. Danged sidesaddles, WHY oh WHY are they so durned FUSSY?!

Thanks for taking the time to create this blog! I've been lurking for a few months now - love the fashion and the sidesaddle experiences.

I've been considering starting riding sidesaddle...but do not even know where to start. More time, more research I guess!

I would love to ride sidesaddle. I would especially love to learn how to jump sidesaddle but I gotta learn how to jump regularly to do that.

Well hello there Julie!
I popped over from my blog, after you left a nice comment! Thanks~
WOW sidesaddle...I have an ornament you'd love to have...a woman riding sidesaddle . It is in my Christmas post about ornaments.

How cool- you have a giveaway! We live in a Victorian home and I have the tray those would go upon..but no service.Mine is not sterling either and I must polish it all the time...though the patina is nice as it tarnishes .

I will be back to catch up with you~

Hi, I just found your blog. I love riding aside and have show western, hunter and saddleseat. No jumping for me tho, in any kind of saddle!!

Glad to hear you are making progress in your posting. I was taught to always post the trot, and it galls me to see women humping along at the trot instead of properly posting.

I am teaching my 16 year old niece to ride aside. She is a rodeo girl through and through, barrels, poles and roping, but loves to mix it up and try something new!

Beatuiful! I love reading your blog, vicariously enjoying sidesaddle riding.
