True Art Off the Canvas

Okay .. you have to see this! Just look at this sidesaddle..

..and this one...

These are miniature's, an art I did not even know existed before my obsession with riding aside grew into the monster that it is!

The detail is so incredible that I have to keep reminding myself that YES, these are not full sized!

If I had the chance to own a custom made Western style sidesaddle... I wonder what kind of tooling I would choose?

Miniature...

Honest.. this is not full sized!

This show stopper is called The Red Rose!

  1. As a model horse artist myself, and having been in that hobby for years (my real horses are more important now and I have kind of gotten out of it) I can attest that though the tack and horses are smaller, they are often nearly as expensive as the real thing!! The record selling price so far for a model is over $17K. That's seventeen THOUSAND DOLLARS folks. For a model of a horse. I have seen tack sets fetch upwards of $1200 on several occasions.

  6. Isn't it terrible that these mini saddles are so well made, yet people keep producing sidesaddles that are trash! If a mini artist can put the leaping horn in the right place, why can't a saddle manufacturer??? :-p

  8. Ah yes, these saddles really are remarkably detailed! I know the particular artist you showcased personally, and know that she has fetched over $1,000 for one of her sets!
