If you enlarge this picture, you can easily see how up hill my Champion and Wilton saddle sat on Oliver's back....and he is at rest in this photo. NOW, imagine if you will what happens to the angle of the saddle when Oliver raises up to start his big showy Saddlebred trot! The saddle that is already sitting up hill, gets an even higher angle making posting the trot exhausting. That is what happened to me when I rode him last year and was getting so frustrated.
Now, I am not saying that I have perfected the art of posting the sidesaddle trot. I have not! However, I can see now that it is at least attainable if I keep working hard and stay in tip top shape!
